A big congrats to Input blogger and Allen County Sustainability Coordinator, Jodi Leamon, for being named one of 30Ā ā€œRecycling Rock Starsā€ in Indiana by the Indiana Recycling Coalition (IRC).

To honor its 30th year as a nonprofit, the IRC’s is recognizing ā€œRecycling Rock Starsā€ as individuals who have made a significant impact on the organization, its mission, and the circular economy in the state of Indiana.

For the past seven years, Leamon has worked for what is now theĀ Allen County Department of Environmental Management (ACDEM). In her current role as Sustainability Coordinator, she collaboratesĀ with countywide businesses and organizations to reduce their environmental footprints through education and waste audits, developing single-use plastic campaigns, managing volunteers for the Food Rescue US partnership, monitoring the ACDEM’s Community Recycling Drop-off program, and keeping up-to-date on recycling markets and trends.

As part of her education efforts, she writesĀ a monthly sustainability blog for Input Fort Wayne, highlighting eco-friendly practices in northeast Indiana and answering readers’ questions about green lifestyles in her ā€œAsk An Environmentalistā€ series.

Leamon will soon launch her own podcast, ā€œA material Girl Goes Green,ā€ a press release says.

ā€œOf all the people involved in sustainability issues in the state of Indiana, it is a high honor to be selected as a ā€˜Rock Star,’ and I can think of no one more deserving,ā€ says Tom Fox, director of ACDEM in a press release. ā€œThis recognition speaks well for Jodi’s dedication and hard work on behalf of environmental issues and reinforces our long-held belief that we are fortunate to have her as part of the ACDEM team.ā€

Throughout the year, the IRC will be recognizing Leamon and other ā€œRecycling Rock Starsā€Ā by profiling them on their website, highlighting them in social media posts using the hashtagĀ #IRCturns30, and honoring them during a celebration planned for June 2020.
