Photo series: Fort Wayne protests the murder of George Floyd and racial injustice

On Friday, May 29, a series of daily demonstrations began in downtown Fort Wayne to protest the murder of George Floyd as well as broader racial injustice and systematic oppression in the U.S.

Fort Wayne photographer Adam Garland was on the scene for the first three days of demonstrations.

On May 29-30, protests started out nonviolently and turned violent as police in riot gear fired tear gas and plastic bullets into the crowd to disperse demonstrators.

On May 31, the protest remained nonviolent.

Here are a few of Garland's photos that offer a glimpse into this historic week.
