Kyle is the Chief Development Officer at Crossroad Child & Family Services in Fort Wayne. Today there was a ceremonial groundbreaking for their expansion project that will serve more youth and families. Kyle has been working with children at Crossroad for over 24 years. “I came here to do a part-time, temporary job but while I was in the lobby that first day, I helped a women that was so well spoken and together. She was a former resident. I had learned that she had been a difficult child but was now this incredibly well-spoken woman. I knew that I wanted to be a part of this organization. It’s such a joy for me to meet so many people and see real outcomes. I work with children who have been abused or neglected. They might be autistic or disabled. They are hurt the most by those that should love them the most. I love being able to care for them and love them so that they can find health and healing. That is what I love about Fort Wayne as a whole. My role in this city is to connect with other community members. It’s all about relationships. I travel often to other cities and Fort Wayne is unique. We really do care. It’s beautiful here and so affordable. We are blessed to have an active art scene and music scene as well as trails and facilities that connect us throughout the city. To have all of that in one place is incredible. I love being active and involved because this is a relationship-oriented city. In 24 years, no two days are the same. We all should be investing in kids because when these kids learn how to make good decisions, they grow up to become adults that take care of the community. They become board members and nurses. They take an active role in the community and make a difference. That is why I love seeing real changes in the lives of kids each day.” #PeopleofNEI
