Bryan created the Blue Birds mural for the Art This Way campaign in downtown Fort Wayne. He lives in Huntington, Indiana where he is a teacher. His mural can be viewed at 927 Harrison Street. “I moved to Huntington 14 years ago to start teaching at Huntington University. I love teaching there. We have amazing, passionate students that are doing great things in the digital media program. I love staying in touch with them after they graduate and seeing all the things that they are doing. When it comes to how art is impacting northeast Indiana, I look at the kids first. I love seeing kids involved in art. I love seeing the public art impacting kids because they can see it as an option. I work on a lot of art for kids’ books and when I ask young people if they want to be an artist, everyone raises their hands. Those hands go down by the time they reach high school. Art is everywhere from logos to architecture and yet some consider it just a hobby. I love that the public art in northeast Indiana is allowing kids to see it as a career path and something you can do with your life. Art This Way is well organized, and Huntington wants to model something off of this, too. I love seeing the support online and on social media. This entire mural was inspired by just a little doodle I did during a meeting once. Now, it is impacting the community. I love when people tag me in their photos and I get to see them in front of it and enjoying it. It’s the best feeling and there is nothing better. I have met so many different people and talked with them because of this mural. It’s here for the city to enjoy.” #PeopleofNEI
